The Norths first meet their new neighbor, Tommy Clarkson, when he tumbles down the stairs and lands right at their feet. Tommy claims someone is attempting to kill him. After Pam's purse is switched with that of Tommy's Aunt Laura, Pam visits the Clarkson apartment to find Tommy nearly dead.
